I can't believe its already May! Even though nothing earth shattering has been happening in the Jones home, our days are busy and time just flies by! Here are some updates about our lives, the little man, and some fun new activities!
Itsy Bitsy Yoga: Yes I took Kingston to yoga class - and it was so much fun! Don't worry - there was no group "om" or anything strange - we just had the babies in a little circle and did some stretches and sang and they played with each other. I did learn a lot about types of touch that are calming so it was quite profitable. I may go again, but its a bit pricey (and in Springfield) so I won't be making the weekly trek. I didn't take my camera this last week for fear of offending the other yoga moms, but its not taboo so I will certainly take pics next time!
New Friends: I went to the yoga class with my neighbor and new friend Meaghan. She has a son just a bit younger than Kingston and I am so excited there is another baby for him to play with that lives so close! He loves his playdates with Maddie, but we don't get to see her nearly enough. And Meaghan's son has also had terrible reflux- so we have a lot in common! Getting to know her has already been a huge blessing in my life. And I think I am going to go to MOPS this week - we will see!
Now for a few things specific to Kingston:
Eating: He is already eating us out of house and home. Two days ago he ate FOUR stage 2 containers of baby food, 2 servings of cereal, and nursed quite frequently (growth spurt I hope!). For the most part we have a pretty regular schedule down, and he counts on eating 3 regular meals of baby food too. We keep trying with the puffs - he can get them to his mouth on his own now, but isn't too thrilled about the taste!
Sleeping: Eegads. That's how I feel about his sleeping right now. He has slept through the night a whole four times in his life - about once a week for the last month. Usually it happens right before I have a breakdown, so that has been nice. The last week has been rough - the last few days in particular - which I am going to assume is teeth, but honestly, I have no clue what's going on. He just wakes up screaming a few times a night. On a positive note, after one of our rough nights he woke up and was talking to himself in his crib - I was so tired I decided to let him hang out in the crib for a bit - and he got surprisingly quiet. I checked on him and he was back asleep! So the good news is he can go to sleep on his own - when he chooses :)
Motor Skills: He has the pincher grasp! Developing this fine motor skill was the reason I let him start eating the puffs and he is doing great. He also is into everything - those arms have a surprising range of motion when he wants to get something. He is doing well with sitting, but still occasionally falls over. There is no crawling yet - and he still gets a bit stuck with trying to roll from back to front - so we are working on that daily (he has a lot of baby body to move!). He is also a jumping machine - he wants to be held standing up so he can jump ALL the time!
For the first time EVER we had to buy diapers this week - it was bitter sweet. Sweet because it was a great reminder of the ways friends and family have blessed us - and bitter because diapers are EXPENSIVE lol!
On a personal note, I am starting a number of new things this month (beginning this week!). I have a great workout video that I was doing faithfully until we visited family about 2 weeks ago - and I haven't touched it since! So this week the working out is back on! I also ordered a new cookbook from the library to try some of the "Biggest Loser" recipes. And finally, we are starting an all natural food supplement program called Isagenix - more details about this to come soon- but it is all about getting rid of the bad stuff in our diets and bodies and replacing it with all natural healthy things - whew what a huge task before us! All in the name of health(and, being able to wear something besides a scuba suit to the lake). I will keep you posted on all of our healthy progress!
