This and That...

So much has been happening its hard to remember everything - I was just thinking today that I think I am going to print off all my blog posts and make them into a book for Kingston as a way of preserving some of these memories, starting when I was pregnant (hence the initiation of the blog). We had a great visit with my dad and Linda this week - it was nice to spend almost two whole days with them! We visited Bass Pro Shops, ate out, and had fun playing with Kingston. They also got to experience a full car ride with my little guy, which is not too fun - however they were troopers and didn't let the screaming crack them. This next weekend we hope to see Grandma and Grandpa Jones, and then Grammy Mueth in a few weeks too - we love seeing our families so much!

As far as baby updates I have decided to break it down by category - hopefully that will help me remember everything!

Sleep:
Ahhh...the subject of many posts. Sleep is actually going a bit better in the Jones home thanks to the introduction of baby food (see the "Food" section for more on this!). Kingston was getting up at least 2-3 times a night to eat, and since starting solids he usually sleeps for a good 8 (and almost 9 last night!) hours at a time - Hallelujah! He will only sleep for about 30min to an hour after that long stretch but I think that may improve once mornings are a little darker with Daylight Savings time. Naptime is also a work in progress. The other day he took a 90 minute nap - and I proceeded to check his temperature because I was sure the only way he would sleep that long was due to an illness - but nope, he was just treating me to a nice long break (and hasn't since I might add!). I usually try to "help" him get a longer nap in - or at least have our total sleep time during the day be around 3 hours(a little less is ok too, and more often thats what happens) with some patting, rocking etc. He is just so interested in the world that it is hard to get him to try to sleep!

Eating:
We have been feeding Kingston cereal for about 5 weeks at our doctor's recommendation - it helps with his reflux, and he is one hungry little boy! Last week I started him on solid fruits and veggies and he LOVES them - he gobbles up at least 2 containers a day! So far we have tried pears, applesauce, bananas and sweet potatoes. Up next are the green veggies and prunes (yuck) so I will be sure to post some pics of his firsts with these foods - there are sure to be some great faces! Also on the eating update, we have a hard time focusing to eat. Just this week Kingston has discovered the world is a great place for discovery and distraction - and just about everything distracts him (he smiles at my cup on the couch for at least 2 minutes every morning when I am trying to get him to eat). I find myself saying "focus Kingston" quite a bit - and he is focused - on everything BUT eating lol! So he will only eat enough to satisfy him for a bit and then is starving an hour or two later because he didn't eat enough...a vicious cycle, one that has made my best attempts to follow a routine somewhat futile.

Playing:
Like I said, Kingston is now aware of EVERYTHING! He is constantly grabbing onto people and things with his hands (and also his feet - one of my favorite things right now!) and even has learned how to drink (very messily) from a cup. Now he thinks that all cups can and should go to his mouth - gone are the days of eating with him on my lap! He loves his bouncer and exersaucer, and likes laying on his tummy in front of the mirror. He is constantly making noise (he learned that he can shriek this week and often does so just to hear himself- it cracks me up). He is also very close to rolling from back to front, and to sitting up - what a big boy! Just yesterday he was on his tummy and brought his knees in underneath him - crawling is still a ways off, but there is no doubt there will be no keeping him still once he figures it out. He also notices and smiles frequently at Belle - Belle sniffs and tries to lick him often, but still pouts about being ousted as the baby in the family!

Whew....so much is going on! I will try to post pics from the grandparents visits soon, as well as some other fun things going on - keep us in your prayers as we continue to learn to be parents, and as Kingston continues to keep us on our toes!
