Balloons, Bathrooms and Croup

Nate's parents came down this weekend to give us a much needed break - and to get a few projects done! We cleaned out our pantry, laundry room, most of the kitchen cabinets, both bathroom cabinets, cleaned all the above mentioned rooms, fixed weatherstripping, installed fire alarms and did lots of laundry! Whew! It felt great to accomplish so much. I am trying to finish one "big" project each month, and one "medium" project each week. So while all the cleaning accomplished my big project this month, I need to finish out the last two weeks by organizing our tax stuff, and cleaning out the office. The office hasn't been cleaned out or reorganized in a good 15 months (hmm.... wonder why...) so it is a HUGE undertaking - it may take thru the end of february!

In the midst of the weekend clean-up, Kingston came down with croup. After a trip to the doctor, and then urgent care for some steroids to help him breathe better, he is doing much better. We still have a few days of sickness left to wether, but I think the scary "can my baby breathe" days are over. Kingston had croup in early June, so I took some then and now pics to compare!
Almost 8 months old - so sweet (and bald!)
There is no medicine for croup, just steamy bathroom time - much easier at 8 months than 15!
This time the "rest and stay calm" part of the doctor's orders has been quite challenging. We have been watching more praise baby/baby einstein than usual (I usually limit him to one video per day) and we bought a balloon on our trip to the store - he loves them!
This is his crazy post bath hair - I hadn't chased him down to comb it yet. And no its not his birthday, its just the cutest balloon they already had ready to go ;)
So we are spending lots of time snuggling, sitting in the steamy bathroom, and drinking lots of Pedialyte trying to recoup from the croup. Nate will be at a conference for a few days this week, so I am glad I was so productive this weekend - now Kingston and I can just hang out and not worry about cleaning!
