One of my favorite blogs (called It's Almost Naptime) recently wrote about a challenge a number of bloggers are doing to change something about their lives in 31 days. One month. A short period of sacrifice to reap long term rewards by (hopefully) turning a temporary change into a lasting one. You can read that blog here -. Today as I ran thru a drive thru for lunch for the third day in a row, that challenge came to mind. 31 days to a life with less disgusting, toxic food sounds pretty tempting - not to mention the other things I could spend my cash on (like this fabulous turqouise purse I have been eyeing) and the health benefits (which, as an almost 30 year old, I need to start paying more attention to!).
However, it's not like I got to this place of being a fast foodie without knowing all of the benefits from abstaining and the risks of partaking. It's that life is busy. And restaurants with playplaces keep my child entertained long enough for me to actually chew my food instead of just inhaling it. And - to be totally honest- there are times when I just don't feel like cooking. Moving to a metropolitan area where there are multiple choices hasn't hurt either. While I know that I didn't necessarily intend to arrive at the place of being a fast food junkie - that is in fact where I am. So (GULP) in the next 31 days - which is thru June 4 - I am comitting to only ONE - yes just ONE - meal out per week at a FF restaurant. And, since I will be cooking more at home (or making more of my own lunches) I might as well try to up my fruit and veggie count while we are at it. Who knows - by the end of the month I may even have conquered my Coca- Cola habit (gasp...). Let's not be too crazy here.
So there you have it bloggy world. 31 days of less FF, and more fruits and veggies. I will report back each week to let you know how it's going. Feel free to leave tips on what you do to avoid the FF monster and make your family meals healthier. I would also LOVE for you to join me in your own 31 day challenge - let me know what you are going to change in the next month!
